The latest outing of the Tooting Voluntary Force will be to help expand a stretch of the Wandle Trail in Earlsfield. The project will be run by Sustrans, who are responsible for maintaining the UK's National Cycle Networks. The Wandle Trail is one of the shorter routes in the network, running from Croydon to Wandsworth Town, but is highly valued by the local community as a quiet place for a riverside wander.
However, the Trail is too narrow in Earlsfield and needs expanding so that walkers and cyclist can easily co-exist. We will be clearing space alongside the current path to allow it to be widened, so the session will involving cutting, lopping, hacking and trimming the vegetation that surrounds it!
Lunch will be provided, and anyone can join in, so if you are interested in getting involved, please email me at [email protected]. No need to attend the whole session if you are busy on Sunday - just a couple of hours is fine.
