While I have been visiting, working and living in Herne Bay for the past twenty years, I grew up in London, where I was fortunate enough to have a good state-school education. After University I returned to London and in 2006 started a business in the Legal Technology sector, which I successfully ran for 20 years. Through its growth, and that of my other start-up companies, I have created hundreds of jobs. As a successful entrepreneur, I believe I have the skills and experience to make our area an even better place for businesses and residents alike.
My wife Tamara hails from Kent and is a social worker helping foster families thrive. Our son Harry arrived in the world after a lengthy delay and four amazing midwives, who showed the NHS at its very best. He was soon joined by Florence and both are growing up just like their Mum and Dad - loving life!
Having returned to the family roots in Kent, I continue to be an active campaigner on issues I am passionate about, locally and nationally (e.g. I'm a member of the Conservative Environment Network). In 2019 I was successful in winning the seat of Greenhill ward in Herne Bay, becoming a Councillor on Canterbury City Council, ultimately being promoted onto the Cabinet. I hugely enjoy serving the people of Herne Bay and working to make improvements to our fantastic seaside community.
In 2021, I was elected as the Kent County Councillor for Herne Bay East, later becoming the Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care. Overseeing an annual budget of £700m and thousands of staff, this is a huge challenge but one that I relish, working hard to provide better outcomes to vulnerable adults across the county.
I have always been a huge advocate of volunteering to help improve your local area. For 8 years I was a governor of a Special Educational Needs school, and I also volunteered for 5 years at the Shaw Trust charity, mentoring the long-term unemployed back into work. Locally in Herne Bay I organise litter-picks, beach-sweeps and support local nature groups working to improve our amazing green spaces. If you would like to get involved with any of my projects - political or non-political - please get in touch with me at [email protected].
I have worked for 30 years - growing businesses, creating jobs and leading teams. At a time when the people of Britain are tired of professional politicians, I am putting my real-life skills to use to help build a more prosperous community for all.
