EARLSFIELD entrepreneur and Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Tooting Dan Watkins this week launched a campaign to celebrate and support Earlsfield’s independent retailers in the run up to Christmas.
Love your Local has been set up to celebrate the diverse range of independent bars, cafes and shops that Earlsfield has to offer and provide them with some much needed publicity.
Residents can nominate their favourite high street businesses at http://www.earlsfield.loveyourlocalshops.com/ until 8th December and Dan will announce the winners at an awards ceremony shortly before Christmas, along with Putney MP and Secretary of State for International Development, Justine Greening.
Dan commented: “Competition is stronger than ever for our local independent shops as they battle against the dominance of national supermarket chains and online retailers. Yet here in Earlsfield, we have a fantastic diversity of retailers brightening up our high street.
“The Conservative Party is committed to supporting small businesses; cutting burdensome red tape, extending the small business rate relief holiday and cutting National Insurance to make it easier to take on new staff.
Sarbani Mazumdar, a local small business owner and Earlsfield Council candidate added: “This scheme is a fantastic boost for small businesses in the run up to Christmas so I hope local residents will be excited to get involved and vote”.
